Wednesday's Wisdom

“When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2

Being prideful is a temptation that can easily become a struggle for many of us.  We take pride in our appearance.  We take pride in all the things we have accumulated or how well we have decorated our homes.  We take pride in things that we do for others; sometimes we take pride in what a good friend we are.  We must always try to put this prideful spirit out of our hearts and minds.  Of all the people to walk the earth, surely Jesus had the most “right” to be proud.  Yet Paul writes in Philippians 2:1-11 that Christ set the ultimate example of humility for us.  He humbled himself “by becoming obedient to the point of death” (v. 8).  We must do the same, and we are blessed with the perfect example to follow!
